We Hold a Safer Space for Trans and Queer Kids!

Pre-Teens

I work with LGBTQIA2S+ pre-teens ages 10-12 and their parents. Pre-teens typically get engaged in sessions when it includes a bit of talk therapy, expressive arts, movement, games, and developmentally appropriate books. Parent coaching and check-ins are collaborative and on an as-needed basis. Clients who have experienced trauma at an early age may be a good fit for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I meet with both parents and pre-teens together for the first session.

Your pre-teen may be a good fit for therapy if they are experiencing:

  • low self-esteem or self-worth

  • anxiety

  • stress

  • mood swings

  • depression

  • gender identity exploration

  • trouble at school

  • low social skills

  • childhood abuse

Teens

I work with teens ages 13-19 through a relational-cultural, intersectional feminist, and narrative lens. I will provide your teen with a confidential space to heal and explore. I typically engage teens through talk therapy and creative activities. If your teen has experienced trauma, they may be a good fit for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I meet with both parents and teens together for the first session and then meet only with the teen, except for some parent coaching and check-ins as needed.

Your teen may be a good fit for therapy if they are experiencing:
